About the Center

An independent, physician-led facility, from the ground up.

Lakeside Surgery Center was founded by three ophthalmologists and three otolaryngologists (ENT) who set out to build the kind of surgical facility they wanted for their own patients: efficient, focused, and free of the operational noise of a large hospital system.

The center is owned entirely by its founding physicians — no hospital system and no private equity investment. It opened in 2025 and passed its Medicare and accreditation inspection with flying colors, reflecting the same standard of care the founders built their individual practices on.

"Everything is significantly more expensive than you could ever imagine — but if you're getting the same procedure at an ASC, it's 30 to 60% cheaper than at a hospital."

Patient Information

What to expect before surgery day

Our team will call you about a week before your procedure to confirm your arrival time. That time can shift depending on cancellations elsewhere on the schedule — we adjust as needed to keep surgery day running as efficiently as possible for every patient. We'll also give you a cost estimate for what to expect to pay on the day of your procedure.

Pre-operative instructions

General guidance — your care team will confirm specifics for your procedure.

Eating & drinking before surgery

  • General anesthesia: nothing to eat or drink after midnight the night before your procedure.
  • MAC / cataract procedures: clear liquids permitted until 3 hours before your procedure, then nothing by mouth (NPO).
Your care team will confirm the exact timing based on your scheduled arrival window.

Cardiac clearance

  • Required to cover patients with active or unstable cardiac conditions.
  • Ejection fraction must be greater than 40%.
  • Patients with pacemakers, ICDs, recent cardiac events, or on anticoagulants should expect a clearance review — ask your surgical coordinator if this applies to you.

Medications

  • Most blood pressure, thyroid, seizure, and psychiatric medications are continued through the day of surgery.
  • Blood thinners, GLP-1 medications, and certain diabetes medications require specific timing — your care team will review your full medication list with you before surgery.
  • Always confirm any medication changes with the prescribing physician first.

Diabetic patients

  • Blood sugar the day of surgery should be under 300 mg/dL.
  • Diabetic medications are typically held the day of surgery — insulin timing depends on your travel time to the center.
  • Clear liquid diet for 24 hours prior if taking a GLP-1 medication for diabetes.
